  • 2 medium onions (diced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (plus more to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 34 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (28 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans red kidney beans (drained but not rinsed)
  • 2 cups broth (beef broth, chicken, vegetable) plus more as needed

Instructions

  1. In a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook chopped turkey until golden brown. Remove and reserve grease.
  2. In the same pot, brown the ground beef seasoned with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Cook diced onions in reserved grease until translucent, then add spices and tomato paste.
  4. Stir in diced tomatoes and return the meat to the pot along with kidney beans and broth.
  5. Simmer for 15-20 minutes before serving hot with desired toppings.
