  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups toasted pecans, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare your baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil or a silicone mat and spraying it with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and evaporated milk. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Insert a candy thermometer and cook while stirring until it reaches 240°F (soft ball stage).
  4. Remove from heat and drop cubes of butter on top without stirring; let sit for one minute.
  5. Add vanilla extract and toasted pecans; stir until well combined.
  6. When the mixture begins to thicken, drop spoonfuls onto your prepared baking sheet quickly.
  7. Allow pralines to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes until hardened.
