  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup patriotic M&Ms
  • ½ cup red and white sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a 9” round cake pan with foil and spray it with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  3. Gradually add baking soda, salt, cream of tartar, and flour while mixing until just combined. Fold in M&Ms and sprinkles.
  4. Press the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake for 19-22 minutes until edges are lightly golden brown.
  5. Let cool completely before frosting with a mixture of softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and heavy cream.
